The week of February 18-24 a team from Tioga Center Baptist Church and Tioga Center Christian School will be traveling to Biloxi, MS to work with Samaratian's Purse Disaster Relief.
Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast August 29, 2005. Now, almost 17 months later, many Biloxi residents are still living in FEMA trailers, with friends or relatives, or are otherwise displaced from their homes.
Samaritian's Purse has been there since September 1, 2005 helping the residents of the Gulf Coast to put their homes and their lives back together. They have provided millions of dollars in tools, materials and assistance with hundreds of thousands of man-hours of labor provided by volunteers from across the United States.
Our team of 12 adults and teens will spend one week assisting in this effort. We will most likely spend the week installing insulation, and drywall, or doing light carpentry in private homes in the Bolxi area. This assistance is provided to residents free of charge by Samaritian's Purse Disaster Relief. Our job, as volunteers, will be, not only to provide some basic manual labor, but also to give encouragement and show the love of Christ to those we help.
Please pray for our trip and our team. Pray for safe travel, for the financial support that we need, and for our team that we will truly reflect the Love of Christ in all we do.
